When praying for the prodigals in my family, I have often stood on the promise given through the prophet Isaiah…
“I will bring your descendants from the east, and gather them from the west; I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not keep them back!’ Bring My sons from afar, and My daughters from the ends of the earth.” (Isaiah 43:5-6)
This week, however, the Father’s promise regarding our prodigals exploded with fireworks. The first spark ignited as the truth of v.7 suddenly hit me.
“Each one is called by My name, I have created them for My glory; I have formed them, yes, I have made them.”
I had never thought of it that way before.
With this new lens of insight, I re-started my intercession amazed and tremendously emboldened by the prophetic declaration that unfolded.
But now, thus says the Lord, who created your son/daughter [we have one of each in our family] in their mother’s womb, and He who is using every circumstance they experience to form them:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed your son/daughter…I have called them by their name, they are Mine.
When they pass through the waters, I will be with them…and through the rivers, they shall not overflow them.
When they walk through the fire, they shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch them.
For I am the Lord their God, the Holy One of Israel, their Savior … Since they are precious in My sight, they have been honored, and I have loved them…
“Your son/daughter are My witnesses,” says the Lord, “and My servants whom I have chosen, that they may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He … that before Me there was no God formed, nor shall there be after Me … that I, even I, am the Lord, and beside Me, there is no savior.
Indeed before the day was, I am He; and there is no one who can deliver your son/daughter out of My hand; I work in their life, and who will reverse it?”
This is my covenant promise to you says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord, the Holy One of your son/daughter, their King.”
Thus says the Lord, “I make a way in the sea and a path through the mighty waters for your son/daughter…
“Do not remember the former things they have done, nor consider the things of the past.
Behold, I will do a new thing in the life of your son/daughter, now it shall spring forth.
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in their wilderness and rivers in their desert … to give drink to your son/daughter, for they are My chosen. I have formed them for Myself; they shall declare My praise.
“I, even I, am He who blots out their transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember their sins.
Put Me in remembrance of your son/daughter; let us contend together for them; state your case, that they may be acquitted.”
Each morning since then, my faith grows stronger as I see beyond their present condition and see how the Father is working. I am no longer disturbed by the choices my prodigals make because the Lord, their Redeemer is at work in their life and who will reverse it?
And I am confident that the Lord, their Redeemer, is faithful to perform His Word. I rest in His faithfulness.
Shalom
